About

Halfway Interesting was launched in 2010 by Eric Bussell.  Since then, "HI" has evolved into an influential community blog, featuring elected officials and other community leaders.  Our formula for success is to recruit interesting and informed authors and to encourage on-topic and constructive discourse.   This approach has allowed HI to provide unique and attractive content on a consistent basis.  In 2012, we have raised the bar even further and will require all registered users to post under their real first/last names.   We believe strongly that those with the courage to publish their opinions and ideas should be protected from anonymous attacks.  Halfway Interesting finally offers the community an opportunity to have civil, online conversation about important and sometimes controversial issues.  As a result, people now have a convenient forum to engage others on local topics, provide feedback, in a non-intimidating environment.  

How it Works

Authors register on the site with a RSVP.  Contact Eric Bussell (eric@ericbussell.com) for a link if you are interested.   A brief orientation may be required.  It is strongly encouraged that authors watch our training videos (http://www.screencast.com/t/CvNgrehrxjU)

Authors can post in the Open Posts up to once per week.  Scheduled authors are scheduled in advance.    

Visitors can register and comment.  All comments are moderated and require that you display your first and last name.   Our commenting platform allows you to be notified of comments/responses by email and provides the ability to publish a response simply by responding to the email.   Regulars who we trust to follow our comment guidelines will be "whitelisted" (no moderation required).
