UpdatedX2: Holderfield Petition Challenge Update - Holderfield Remains on Ballot

At 1pm today, the Electoral Board of Review will hear counter arguments from Stephanie Holderfield.  While the board may make a decision on whether to keep her on the ballot today, I'm not holding my breath.

So how do you think it will unfold?  It doesn't appear that Holderfield plans to back down anytime soon:

From http://www.stephanieholderfield.com/,

We have the challenge, and

THE CHALLENGE WILL BE MET.

Is is my understanding that either side can appeal a decision by the local review board.  I hope that Holderfield remains on the ballot so the voters decide whether or not she should be the Republican nominee for Circuit Clerk.  While there are strong and mixed opinions, it seems the general feeling is that:

  1. The system needs to be reformed in the future and there should be fewer restrictions to get on the ballot.
  2. In the spirit of fairness, rules should be followed and enforced the same for everyone.
  3. No matter how you cut it, this has been a divisive issue and does not reflect well on the republican party.
  4. While people are not excited about the situation, people are not surprised Holderfield is the middle of an ugly fight.

Stephen Frank's attorney came prepared to the last hearing and it will be interesting to see if Holderfield will be able to present a strong counter argument based on code and precedent.  Since Holderfield (Republican) has admitted that she signed Ben Carlson's (Democrat) petition and Ben Carlson claims he was never asked (or doesn't recall) to take her name off the petition, it will be interesting to see if Holderfield can legally stay on the ballot and, in my opinion, it will simply depend on the strength of Holdefield's legal argument.

If you are a fan of political drama, stay tuned.  If Holderfield's legal argument is not clear-cut, this has the potential to turn ugly.  Even if Holderfield remains on the ballot, this has the potential to turn ugly.  I have a feeling we'll be talking about the Circuit Clerk race one way or another in the coming weeks...

Keep an eye on my twitter feed for updates.

Dude do you have any proof to what ur saying. U r such a hack with no regard to facts its pitiful.

Please read through the documents and check out Twitter.  :-)

UPDATE2:

 craig walker
as usual u don't know what your talking about. An affidavit is an assertion not proof and no proof was offered of the assertion

Since Craig Walker brought it up:

An affidavit  is a written sworn statement of fact voluntarily made by an affiant or deponent under an oath or affirmation administered by a person authorized to do so by law.

An oath is either a statement of fact or a promise calling upon something or someone that the oath maker considers sacred, usually God, as a witness to the binding nature of the promise or the truth of the statement of fact. To swear is to take an oath, to make a solemn vow. Those who conscientiously object to making an oath will often make an affirmation instead.

Electoral review board rules in favor of Holderfield and votes 3-0 to keep her on the ballot.  At hearing, Holderfield's credibility was called into question when Ben Carlson testified under oath that he was never asked to remove her name from the ballot, that he did not help her campaign, and did not walk in a parade for Holderfield (and was not wearing any Holderfield Tshit) -- contradicting the sworn statement signed by Holderfield.

I feel that I adequately provided proof that Holderfield, in a written sworn statement, made the claims I shared on Twitter.

Also, a political hack is a negative term ascribed to a person who is part of the political party apparatus, but whose intentions are more aligned with victory than personal conviction. The term "hired gun" is often used in tandem to further describe the moral bankruptcy of the "hack".  Political hack may also be used by a political opponent in order to erode confidence or credentials of an opponent or his hired campaign help. Often used to demean well credentialed individuals for political purposes.

I'm not surprised a liberal political activist is calling me a hack, but would a hack have done this (http://www.halfwayinteresting.com/Pages/CityofChampaign/tabid/90/entryid/490/Don-Gerard-for-a-Better-Champaign.aspx)?  When it comes to mudslinging, there is a certain liberal activist who has the fastest draw in Champaign County.  One thing I noted in the last campaign cycle is how fast a mudslinger that uses bullying tactics can take down the candidates they are trying to help...and fade into political obscurity.
