I'm one of those students who graduated from the University of Illinois (don't ask when) but never quite got around to leaving. So here I am, a proud Illini who loves this community and hopes to make a difference. I live in Savoy and am currently on the Savoy Village Board. But my political career started in 1991 when I served on the Champaign County Board for 11 years.
Being a political junkie has allowed me valuable experiences over the years. I value the friendships of dedicated elected officials and local government staff. I am especially thankful for the opportunity to have been Rep. Tim Johnson's campaign manager in the 2000 open seat congressional election.
My real job is teaching 4th grade in Mahomet. My husband, Greg, has been supportive of all my political challenges. He has a Ph.D and is clearly smarter than me by staying out of politics. My son Phil is the sales manager at BMW in Savoy and our handicapped daughter, Elizabeth, lives with us.
